The cabin area is located along the main road between Sauda and Vanvik, on the eastern side of the Sauda fjord. The lots are located in a quiet area between lakes and mountain peaks, which are popular hiking destinations all year.

The southern part of the area has previously been zoned in an older zoning regulation for existing cabin lots in Maldal.
